Deluge
when it rains in purgatory
it doesn't rain but a deluge
ever wonderful
the starlight speaks of faith in hope
yet Solaris whispers
"alas her season has no rules"
if he was summer and she winter
would he surely melt her cold depression
yet emergent spring whose effervescent growth lies
froze and sealed beneath the icy crusts
dallying sad and seated among the crevices
sees a spring disfigured to spring decayed
and the pungent mush the mulch of promises
there beneath the cracked tilth
the roots of bitter recrimination
are jumbled with the muck
yet to be regrown in fields of ancient argument
they never tire in their tirade
leeching the mineral of contentment
leaving but a barren rut
