Seeds
she said granny
"spring is here"
i feel its maiden on my arm
and strolling she spread her warmth
like seeds among the meadows
she flicked her magic
and she became a finch
with gold and red all bedecked and plumed
she fluttered from the trees
beware the hawk
and cat in his pouncing grass i thought
but blithely off she went to love
among the meadows
and in tears shes running homeward
for the world is dangerous and rough
sing little bird i said
and a lovely song she warbled
one of boys not yet men
and hearts betrayed and wounded
in the parlour she found seeds for feed
and cakes from the passing season baked
her strength returned and off she flew
and took the seasons with her
