Vowed
On the first night
when moons were born from asteroids
comets gleamed and flew
the massive fusions slowly sparked
heated the first frenetic forges whose arc lit skies
cast long shadow across the face of eager creation
on that birth night she vowed her love
and its protection
so her potent force became
and though later, many seasons later
as evolutions hand was calmly held and moved
beasts believed that they were charmed or they were gods
invincible
cast from crucibles of fire to be forever there
among the things that made a heaven
they were but a vulnerable foetus
within a womb
that wandered in a wonderland of beauty and of danger
