etched
fermented in the pitch of moss
a rainbow born and spread upon the wet and foreboding sheet
of purple cloud
the cosmos opened and as a flower springs
so enlightenment ushered in the rays that pierced the sun and rain
diluted only by my sight
ran across the veins
like acid through the lime of chalk downed land
and etched its caverns deep below the scabby turmoil
and the round bent grasses and the heathen bog above
and so i came to know
from the diffracted rainbent colours
and the booming places far below
just what i am
and where
for sure it takes a whole but hollow child
to absorb the world and its colour
in both its glory
and its quirks of error
come rain and shine upon that kind
to make the rainbow
etched upon the air
and this you did not like
its intransigence rooted with its ancestry
in rainbow country
your poniard tongue glittering in the colours
of its stabbing phrases
hindering your development
well piss off to some foreign place
and be the happy johny foreigner
sojourning and with largesse
buy your alien slaves and bondship friends
and i will mediate between the land and sky
so far away
within myself
where i see the rainbow bending from the hightened trees
the jaundiced earth, the snow white caves
the core in flux
which only needs rotate
to etch its tectonic message
upon the inner skin of crust
