flew
this is the last of summer
upon this first of autumns day
as the early beads of dew come call
we fly together
upon open rouge puffed skies
that is the way it should have been
but it was not had been
you thought i was some party piece
fed drink and railed to entertain
in my raucous coarse malevolent way
you did not like it
so what did you like among the endless texts
my house ? my lice ?
maybe laughter when the joke is none too human
I'm not sure and still not sure
for whenever there is trauma there you are
flying to me
your burdens wrapped in stresses blanket
like little children's treasures
small toys upon which i pledge my soul
and no .. I've not forgot i said I'd die with you

in thrall upon its thermal glory rising
the last throes of the seasons love
not for us the heart stopped rise and dive
of doves
or the frenetic chattered swirl of swallows
in the lush dense air below
but slow and circling
for again the joys of dimension are among us
higher to the purling cloud
and gone
no voices resounded where we flew
no voices mar'd our love
